AN ATTRACTION: Shuro ni Hahacho-zu Pictures of birds and hemp palms painted with ink on 12 sliding doors in the West-Room of main temple, by Yosa Buson (1716-1783).
This is one of the masterpieces of Yosa Buson. Eight birds are shown in the picture, one on the rock at right hand then seven birds are flying to the left, just like the sequential movie cut.
慈照寺本堂には、与謝蕪村作による数少ない襖絵のうち三作品が残されている。「棕櫚に叭叭鳥図」で花鳥、「飲中八仙図」で人物、「山水人物図」で山水を、それぞれ描き、その画態は真・行・草を意識したように思われる。いずれも明和年間（1764〜72）頃の作と推定される。また、東の間には池大雅作の「琴棋書画図」も残されており今回、特別公開が決定している。
